Best Sunset Spots in Seattle
Kerry Park
It offers one of the most iconic views of the city skyline, with the Space Needle front and center. The sunset paints the sky behind the city in breathtaking hues. This view features the gorgeous Seattle skyline with Mount Rainier right behind on a clear day. You will also see ferry boats coasting along the water. This can be a busy spot so be sure to get there early.
There are gorgeous homes in the surrounding neighborhood. Free street parking and less crowds on a weekday as opposed to weekend. The park has some sculptures around and benches. If you’re a fan of Grey’s Anatomy, Meredith’s house is in this neighborhood!
This is one of my favorite places to see a Seattle sunset!

Gas Works Park
Situated on the north shore of Lake Union, Gas Works Park provides a unique perspective of the cityscape, especially during sunset when the sun dips behind the Olympic Mountains.
The park is a great spot to see a spectacular sunset. Along with a skyline view, you get a great shot of Lake Union with some fun looking industrial structures inside the park. There is also a kid’s playground and picnic area making it a good spot for families. It can get busy here but there’s plenty of space around to find a spot for watching the sunset without being crowded.

Alki Beach Park
Located in West Seattle, Alki Beach offers a beautiful view of the sunset over Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. The beachfront is perfect for a relaxing evening watching the sun go down. This is a busy spot that was featured in the film Sleepless in Seattle. It is a cute beachy town with shops and restaurants to explore as well as a boardwalk. There’s 2.5 miles of beach so plenty of space to find the best spot to sit and watch the sunset.

Golden Gardens Park
Another great beach option, Golden Gardens Park, located in Ballard, provides a panoramic view of the Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains, making it an ideal spot for sunset watching. In the summer the beach gets pretty busy but in the off season you’ll find much less people. There are fire pits here as beach campfires are allowed, adding a fun touch to watching the sun go down. This is the best place in the Seattle area to see the sun dip behind the Olympic Mountains.

Discovery Park
Seattle’s largest city park, Discovery Park, offers a variety of landscapes including forests, meadows, and sea cliffs. The West Point Lighthouse within the park offers a picturesque setting on top of Magnolia Bluff for sunset views over Puget Sound. There is a paid parking lot but visiting the park is free. There aren’t many restaurants around so bringing your own food for a picnic is recommended. Expect views of the Cascade and Olympic Mountains, Seattle skyline and Mt Rainier on a clear day.

Columbia Center Sky View Observatory
For a different perspective, head to the Sky View Observatory in the Columbia Center. From the 73rd floor, you’ll get a bird’s eye view of the city as the sun sets over the horizon. This is the perfect spot to get spectacular views of the city of Seattle along with a beautiful sunset.
Tickets range from $25-$45 depending on your preferred experience and can be purchased here. You may need to book at least a day in advance to be sure to get a ticket for sunset time but they usually don’t sell out quick.
