Soaking in mineral pools is a great way to ease sore muscles.

There’s plenty of good hot springs options near Denver, but if you’re looking for a rustic mountainous hot springs experience, you’ll most likely be driving a few hours from the mile high city.

They are totally worth the drive – just keep this in mind when planning your trip. If you want to visit one of the more unique hot springs locations and you’re staying in Denver, then you will most likely need to make a day trip out of it.

However, there’s still a few options closer to Denver if you don’t want to travel too far.

Hampton Inn & Suites Denver-Downtown

For an affordable stay without sacrificing quality check out the Hampton. There is free breakfast, comfy beds, a pool, gym, and free wifi.

The Ramble Hotel

For a bit more luxury, The Ramble Hotel has a restaurant, bar, gym, free wifi, and gorgeous rooms with large windows.

Cottonwood Hot Springs Inn & Spa

Cottonwood’s mission is soaking serenity. Each year the owner invests the spa’s profits into new projects adding to the peaceful nature of the resort. This is a more rustic establishment, with no TVS or wifi. Nothing artificial is added to their pools.

I love Cottonwood’s love of nature, their recycling attitudes, all organic bedding, and small library available to guests. This place is a true vacation from the outside world tucked in the beautiful San Isabel National Forest.

There is even free natural spring water available!

Alcohol, food, smoking, dogs, and glass are prohibited.

At this Hot Springs, there are several different pools with varying temperatures as well as a sauna. There is a cold plunge pool here which is not seen at many resorts, along with spa services.

Strawberry Park Hot Springs

Address: 44200 County Road #36, Steamboat Springs, CO 80487

Hours: Sun -Thurs: 10am-10pm; Fri-Sat: 10am-midnight

Cost: $20 for every two hours – cash only

Driving Time From Denver: 3 hours

This is one of the most rustic hot springs close to Denver! The unique beauty of this spa includes stone masonry surrounded by trees of the Routt National Forest.

Getting to this place in the winter can be a challenge. Snow chains and 4×4 are required from Nov 1 to May 1. They also have shuttle options that run safely during inclement weather, check them out here.

No minors are permitted after sundown as clothing is optional once it gets dark. There are also massage therapists on site. 

Snacks, glass, alcohol, and smoking are prohibited.

Indian Hot Springs

Indian Hot Springs is one of the closest locations to Denver. Albeit a more “luxury” hot springs, this resort will give you tropical vibes!

The large mineral water swimming pool is surrounded by tropical plants handpicked by their onsite botanist. You can also reserve your own private bath.

There are also cave pools available for soaking, which is a really neat experience! Be sure to check out their onsite spa, offering mud soaks.

While glass, food, and coolers are not permitted, there is a food court onsite.

Lodging is available at their onsite Inn and Lodge, as well as cabin options. 

Hot Sulphur Springs Resort

Hours:  Open 365 days a year from 8 am – 10 pm.

Cost: Adult Day Pass(12 & up)=$30.00

Hot Sulphur Springs has a total of 20 pools available for use. Yes, 20!! 19 of those are mineral springs while one is a chlorinated swimming pool. These pools are fed from 7 different mountain springs in the area.

This location was originally founded by Native Americans who used the pools for medicinal purposes back in the early 1800s.

There is some lodging available onsite; consisting of a small motel and lodges. Along with the other locations, there is also spa services offered including different massage options. 

No Alcohol, Smoking, Vaping or Eating allowed in the Pool Areas.

Mount Princeton Hot Springs

Hours: OPEN YEAR-ROUND 9:00AM – 9:00PM

Cost: $40 weekdays, $45 weekends

Mt Princeton is a luxury spa experience located in Nathrop, Colorado. This beautiful location boasts infinity pools, private hot springs, waterslides, a historic bathhouse, and a spa.

There is also many dining options onsite. This includes a restaurant, juice bar, a market and a Biergarten. A lot of hot springs resorts don’t sell alcohol but Mount Princeton does!
